A convicted felon wanted for questioning in several investigation including one involving a rape is now in police custody.
Jefferson City Police officers arrested Dana Day Jr., 24, at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Day had been on the run after police believe he went into a woman's home on April 1 and allegedly assaulted and raped her.
Members of the Departmentâ??s Community Action Team and Patrol Division received information that Day was possibly in a neighborhood on the cityâ??s east side.
Officers tried to stop a vehicle they believed Day was a passenger in but before the car stopped, Day jumped out and ran.
A K-9 unit tracked the convicted felon to an overgrown area behind a residence in the 300-block of Jackson Street.
Day was taken into custody and transported to the Cole County Sheriffâ??s office for his outstanding warrants; that include Felony Property Destruction, Domestic Assault, Burglary and Rape.
New charges will be submitted for review to the Cole County Prosecutor for resisting arrest.
Two other people were also arrested for various violations during this traffic stop.
