Man tries to rob Columbia Dairy Queen, gets arrested

A Mexico man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for the attempted robbery of the Dairy Queen restaurant in the 700 block of the Business Loop in Columbia.

According to Columbia Police, officers were called to the store at 3:15 for a robbery with a weapon. Witnesses told police that a man entered the business displayed a knife and demanded money. However, the employee refused to give him any money and he fled on foot.

A short time later, officers located the suspect walking in the area of Coats and Fairview. Arrested was Vincent Ferrell Jr., 47, of Mexico. He is suspected of Armed Criminal Action and First-Degree Robbery.
