UPDATE: Man with serious injuries after home invasion shooting

Columbia Police responded to a call about a gunshot wound victim near the intersection of Loch Lane and Braemore Road Sunday night.

Sergeant Dallas Dollens said they arrived to the west Columbia neighborhood shortly after 8:30 p.m. They found several shell casings and seized "a lot" of evidence.

Officers have confirmed the shooting happened during a home invasion. The male victim was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

According to police, the preliminary investigation revealed at least two armed suspects forced entry into a residence and demanded money. During the incident, multiple rounds were discharged by the suspect(s) striking the victim. The suspects fled the area. There were no further reported injuries and the amount of property damage is unknown at this time.

Authorities said they do have leads and were actively investigating.
