Man shot in Jefferson City after altercation

Update: April 6 at 3:00 p.m.: Jefferson City Police have released the name of the suspect arrested after Tuesday night's shooting.Police said Corey Thames was charged on Wednesday with armed criminal action, first degree assault and felon in possession of a firearm.The probable cause statement released by the Cole County Prosecutor's office said police retreived a .380 handgun when they arrested Thames.The statement said Thames has had five previous felony convictions.Police said the shooting victim was Jeremy Tisdel, 39, of Jefferson City.Tisdel was taken to University Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, back and left buttocks. He's in critical condition at University Hospital.Police said Thames admitted to the shooting and claimed he was defending himself. Update: April 6 at 8:45 a.m.:Jefferson City police continue to investigate Tuesday night's shooting. Police are interviewing the victim and witnesses. The names of the victim and suspect have not been released.Police said more information will be released mid-morning Wednesday.

Update: April 5 at 11:15 p.m.: Jefferson City Police are investigating a shooting that happened on Tuesday.Police were called to the Break Time at Dunklin and Clark in Jefferson City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The call was for a disturbance. When they arrived, they found a gunshot victim.Police said disturbance happened between two males, aged 31 and 39. The 31-year-old is suspected of pulling a gun out and shooting the 39-year-old three times. The 31-year-old left the scene before police arrived, but was taken into custody without incident a short time later after information about him was obtained. He was the only suspected shooter in the incident.The 39-year-old was taken to an area hospital with serious wounds there were not believed to be life-threatening.There are no charges pending at this time, but Jefferson City Police Detectives are investigating the incident.
