Man shot in early morning Columbia robbery

Columbia Police are investigating an armed robbery that ended in a shooting early Thursday morning.
Around 4:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to Women's and Children's Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim. The victim, a 23-year-old male, was walking behind houses in the 2000 block of McKee Street on his way to a friend's house.
The suspect approached him armed with a handgun and demanded money. When the victim turned to run, the suspect shot him once from behind, hitting his left shoulder. After he fell to the ground, the suspect stole his money and fled the area.
The victim was treated for his injuries and has been released from the hospital.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5'8", wearing all black clothing and a bandana over his face.
