A Columbia man pleaded guilty to attempted sexual misconduct with a child.
The Boone County Sheriffâ??s Department Cyber Crimes task force started investigating 28-year-old Shaun Michael Dierker in 2012 when they say he started conversing through e-mail with whom he thought to be a 14-year-old Boone County boy.
That â??boyâ?? was actually an undercover detective with the Boone County Sheriffâ??s Department Cyber Crimes Task Force. After exchanging several e-mails the conversations moved to cell phone text messaging.
During text messaging conversations the suspect sent the decoy child sexually explicit photographs of himself and arranged with the decoy child to meet him for the purpose of engaging in sexual conduct. On the late evening of Saturday, December 15, 2012 the suspect was arrested by plain clothed detectives with the Cyber Crimes Task Force and the Boone County Sheriffâ??s Department when he arrived at a local fast food restaurant to meet the decoy child. As a result of this arrest a cellular telephone and two computers were seized.
Dierker pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted sexual misconduct involving a Child and attempted statutory sodomy in the second degree.
He will be sentenced in April.
