Jimiah Lambert will spend 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the January shooting murder of 23-year-old Dontay Tolston in Columbia.

A Columbia man has pleaded guilty to the January murder of 23-year-old Dontay Tolston.

20-year-old Jimiah Lambert was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to voluntary manslaughter, unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of a controlled substance.

Tolston was killed on January 2 in a residence in the 2000 block of Newton Drive during a drug deal, according to statements made to investigators by another suspect in the case, Martrell Smith.

An aquaintance told investigators that she walked into the apartment later and discovered Tolston lying on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound.

Two other accomplices, including Smith and 17-year-old Derrick Copeland, were arrested shortly after the murder. Lambert was apprehended about three months afterward in New Orleans.
