Man injured in shooting now charged with 2nd degree murder

A man injured at the scene of a homicide in Columbia Tuesday has now been charged with murder. According to online court records, Darrius Edwards, 22, was charged with second degree murder.

Police found Derrick Brookins, 44, dead in an apartment on West Texas Avenue Tuesday afternoon. They later got a call that a man was at the hospital with a gun shot wound. That man was Edwards.

Court records indicate Edwards is being held on $1,000,000 cash only bond.
