Man fires at deputy, gets arrested

Bradford Prugh is charged with three felonies after allegedly firing a handgun in the direction of a Camden County Sheriff's Deputy.

A Camden County man was arrested Wednesday and charged with three felonies after shooting in the direction of a Camden County Sheriff's Deputy.

According to the sheriff's department, a deputy was responding to a residence on Red Barn Road to check on reports of a runaway 13-year-old girl. Upon arrival, the deputy saw the girl run into the woods and followed her while identifying himself as a deputy in hopes that she would come forward.

As he was walking, the deputy heard a gunshot coming from a nearby house. The deputy saw a man standing in the doorway of the house, holding a handgun. He continued to identify himself and directed the man to drop his weapon.

As the deputy returned to his vehicle to take cover, the man fired another round in his direction, according to a press release.

More deputies arrived on the scene and the alleged shooter was taken into custody. He is identified as 55-year-old Bradford Prugh of Osage Beach. He is charged with Armed Criminal Action, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Assault, all felonies.

Prugh remains in custody on $150,000 bond.
