Columbia Police arrested a man they say was behind three armed robberies in as many days.
At 5:12 am on Monday, police were called to the Fast Lane 66 on Paris Road for an armed robbery. As they were headed there, they spotted a gray Chevrolet that matched the description of a car seen at an armed robbery just 30 minutes earlier at the Motel 6 on I-70 Drive Southwest.
Police tried to pull the car over, but the driver didn't stop until crashing through a fence on Mulberry Drive. After the crash, the driver then took off on foot.
After a short chase, police arrested 36-year-old Deshawn Smith.
Police say he is a suspect in the armed robberies of the Super 8 on Saturday, the Motel 6 at 4:42am Monday and the Fast Lane 66 just half an hour later.
He was arrested on several charges, including three counts of armed robbery.
Smith is being held in the Boone County Jail.
