Man arrested for abducting woman, running from police

John Grandon

A woman is recovering from minor injuries after escaping from an alleged abductor in Miller County.

Late Sunday night, officers tried to stop a dark colored Dodge truck on Highway 54. At one point, the truck slowed down and a female passenger got out claiming she had been abducted by the driver. She was taken to Lake Regional and later released with minor injuries.

The highway patrol was able to stop the truck and arrest the driver, John Grandon. Grandon later admitted to throwing a 9mm hangun out of the truck - that gun was later picked up by a citizen passing by.

He was charged with felonious restraint, armed criminal action, tampering with physical evidence, unlawful possession of a firearm and distribution of a controlled substance.

Miller County Sheriff Bill Abbott says that the gun was possibly involved in a crime and asks that it be turned over to a local police department.

Grandon is being held at the Miller County Sheriff's Department on a surety bond of $300,000.
