Man arrested after trying to ditch handgun

A man was arrested after leading police on a foot chase early Sunday morning.

A 26-year-old man is facing multiple charges after leading Columbia Police on a foot chase early Sunday morning.

A person approached officers on foot patrol near Roxy's Bar on 1025 East Broadway and told them they saw Daniel Cohen leaving the bar with a gun.

Police say when Cohen saw officers approaching, he took off running and tried to throw the handgun under a car.

After a short foot chase, officers were able to take Cohen into custody and recover the handgun.

Cohen was arrested for resisting or interfering with an arrest with a bond of $4,500, tampering with physical evidence with a bond of $4,500, unlawful use of a weapon with a bond of $4,500 and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of a traffic violation with a bond of $475.
