A Columbia man was arrested Sunday after authorities found cocaine on him.
Sunday, Jesse Westcott kept walking up to Columbia Police officers while they were trying to make an unrelated arrest at Bengal's Bar and Grill.
Westcott was told to stay back multiple times, but he refused.
Then when an officer went to put Westcott's hands behind his back, he tried to fight him off.
During a search, officers found a baggie with cocaine in it, a clear straw with a white powder substance on it and two pills of clonazepam, a muscle relaxant.
Police said Westcott required medical attention but when officers let him out of the police vehicle to get medical attention he took off running.
A short foot pursuit ensued, but Westcott was apprehended.
He was arrested for escape from custody or attempted escape, obstructing government operations, two counts of possession of controlled substance, second degree property damage, felony resisting or interfering with arrest, misdemeanor resisting or interfering with arrest, third degree assault of a law enforcement officer and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
Westcott's total bond for all of the charges is $20,500.
