The Jefferson City School District is losing a long-time employee. David Luther, the school's Assistant to the Superintendent for School-Community Relations, announced that he will retire at the end of this school year, June 30th.
Luther started his career with the school district as an English teacher in 1985, and became the library media specialist for Jefferson City High School in 1996. He started in his current position in 2000.
Jefferson City Public School Superintendent Dr. Brian Mitchell said in a statement, "David has been a tremendous asset to Jefferson City Public Schools. He has established an incredible reputation for his work in community relations at the local, state and national levels. We thank him for his service to Jefferson City and wish him the very best in retirement!"
The district has begun the search for a replacement.
