Local bakers celebrate Chocolate Chip Day
May 15 was National Chocolate Chip Day, and bakers throughout Mid-Missouri celebrated by cooking their favorite chocolate chip recipes.
Kierah Moore of Como Cookies visited KRCG 13 to talk about her new cookie business. "The key to my cookies is that I use really quality ingredients," she said. "I also wrap each cookie individually so they stay really soft." To see more of Moore's cookie offerings, visit www.comocookies.com.
Lynda Salings also stopped by to share her famous Sunken Treasure cookies. "I created these because I grew up in a farm family," she said. "We were always making muffins, and one day I thought to use the muffin tray for cookies and add in all sorts of chocolate goodies inside." Salings formerly sold her culinary creations at her shop "The Cookie Queen". She said she now bakes simply for enjoyment.
"Remember, you are what you eat!" Salings said. "So eat a chocolate chip cookie, and be warm and sweet!"
