Hundreds of athletes and families filled Mizzou Arena Friday evening to kick off the 29th annual Show-Me State Games.
Cheers answered calls for St. Louis, Kansas City, Joplin, Springfield, as well as Mid-Missouri.
Parents told KRCG they were excited for this year's games and hope their children see the value in friendly competition.
After festivities, including the presentation of a $5200 check to Ronald McDonald House, the Show-Me State Games torch arrived and Olympic gold medalist Jordyn Wieber lit the ceremonial flame.
The Show-Me State Games run through Sunday.
