Last day to pay property taxes

Real estate property taxes are due no later than midnight Wednesday.

Time is running out to pay personal property and real estate taxes.

Taxpayers are lining up outside of the Boone County Collectorâ??s office to get their payment in on time.

Missouri law requires taxes to be paid by midnight or postmarked on or before the 31st to avoid interest and penalties.

While the lines were long, some taxpayers said it was worth waiting until the last minute.

Jeff Simkins said, â??Itâ??s just the story of my life. I wait until the last minute to get things done. I want to hold on to that money as long as I can, pretty much, yeah.â??

Boone County taxpayers can put their taxes in a drop box located on the east side of the Boone County Government Center on Walnut Street.

They can also pay online without a penalty until the clock strikes midnight.
