A 25-year-old Kansas City man has been sentenced to 64 years in prison for shooting and wounding two people at an area shopping mall.

The Jackson County prosecutor's office says Eric D. Bratton was sentenced Thursday for the 2012 shooting at Independence Center, which is located about 10 miles east of Kansas City. Two teenagers were wounded in the shooting, which police said occurred after two men had an altercation with the victims.

Bratton was convicted in January on two counts of armed criminal action and two counts of assault. He was sentenced to 25 years on each count of armed criminal action, and seven years on each count of assault. The judge ordered the sentences to run consecutively.
