      Kander announces Blue Book Photo Contest: â??Remembering Harryâ??

      A statewide photo contest began Monday for the 2013-2014 Official Manual, State of Missouri Blue Book.


      A statewide photo contest began Monday for the 2013-2014 Official Manual, State of Missouri Blue Book.


      Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander announced the theme for this year's contest as "Remembering Harry," in honor of the only U.S. president from Missouri.


      Photos will be separated into three categories. The first category, "Carry the battle to them" can be photographs of sporting events and competitions in Missouri. The second category, "The most peaceful thing in the world is plowing a field" can be photographs of Missouri agriculture and natural settings. The last category, "I donâ??t believe in little plans" can be photographs of unique celebrations and parades in Missouri.


      Missouri citizens of all ages can participate and there is no limit on the amount of photos each person submits, as long as each photo is attached with its own entry form.

      All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2013. Photo contest winners will be chosen by a combination of online voting and a committee within the Secretary of Stateâ??s office.


      The winning photos in each category will be published in the 2013-2014 edition of the Blue Book. All entries will become the property of the Office of the Secretary of State and may be used in other publications with full credit given to the photographer. All of the submitted photographs will be added to the permanent collection of the Missouri State Archives, a division of Kanderâ??s office.
