Jury convicts Hutson of second degree murder

Calvin Hutson convicted of second degree murder.

A Cole County jury has convicted Calvin Hutson in the 2012 shooting death of Holts Summit resident Andre Hudson.

The verdict for Calvin Hutson came after eleven hours of deliberations. Notes from the jury to the judge indicated one juror held out for some time before the verdict was announced a little after 9 p.m. The jury convicted Hutson on all four counts including second degree murder, first degree attempted robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors say Hutson set up fake pot deal to rob Andre Hudson in December of 2012. A fight started and both men shot each other. Calvin shot Andre four times in the head and killed him.

Calvin Hutson will be sentenced in July. He may face thirty years in prison.
