Jefferson City prepares for Monday's Inauguration

Jefferson City is preparing for the 2013 Inauguration events on Monday.

Several road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect starting as early as Sunday afternoon.

The 100 block of Madison Street will close at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, the 200 block of Broadway Street as well as the 100 and 200 blocks of West High Street will close at midnight Sunday.

At 7:00 a.m. Monday, East High Street will close from Adams to Marshall streets.

Parking will be restricted on both sides of East Capitol Avenue on Monday morning for Governor Nixon's church service at 8:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church.

The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m., starting at the corner of East High and Adams Street in front of the Missouri River Regional Library. The parade turns on Madison Street then again onto Capitol Avenue. From there, it will continue around the north side of the Capitol building, ending at Missouri Boulevard.

Spectators can use the parking garage on Madison street and enter from East Capitol Avenue.

The worship service at First Baptist is open to the public, as is the swearing-in ceremony for Governor Nixon. After the ceremony, there will be a bar-be-que reception at the Capitol Plaza Hotel from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m for Missourians to enjoy.

The governor will wrap up the evening with the Grand March and Inaugural Ball at the State Capitol Rotunda.
