Jefferson City Police search for suspect in attempted child abduction incident

Jefferson City Police responded to a call Friday regarding an attempted abduction.

According to a JCPD release, the attempt occurred after school was released. The intended victim, a 10-year-old girl, was walking home from West Elementary School when she was approached by a male who tried to grab her and pull her into his car.

The girl told police that she kicked the suspect multiple times and was able to run home. The child was not hurt during the incident.

Detectives with the agency are still investigating the incident.
