A 20-year-old Jefferson City man was seriously injured when his motorcycle and an SUV collided on Edgewood Drive Sunday afternoon.

Jefferson City Police say the accident happened just after 1 p.m. when the driver of the SUV, 39-year-old Steven Lochhead Jr., was trying to make a left turn onto West Edgewood from Kwik Kar Wash and Detail.

The SUV and motorcycle, driven by 20-year-old Keith Miller, collided as Lochhead crossed the center turn lane.

Witnesses at the scene reported that Miller was traveling at a very high speed and passing other eastbound traffic prior to the crash.

The driver of the SUV reported no injuries and was wearing a seatbelt.

Miller was taken from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital and then transported to University Hospital.

He was wearing a department of transportation-approved motorcycle helmet.

This crash investigation is ongoing by officers of the Jefferson City Police Department Traffic Section.
