A Jefferson City man is facing multiple charges after being caught Saturday evening driving a stolen car for the second time in a month.
32-year-old Chet Jones was arrested for first-degree tampering, operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.
According to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, an automatic license plate reader alerted a deputy of a stolen vehicle around the 130 mile marker of I-70 around 7 p.m.
Deputies were able to stop the vehicle and Jones was taken into custody without incident.
Investigation revealed that Jones was a parole absconder and he was also taken into custody for a no bond parole violation warrant.
During processing at the jail, a deputy found that Jones was in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine.
