The weather is getting warmer, the leaves on the trees are emerging, birds are singing, all signs that it is time for the annual Spring Clean-Up in Jefferson City.
Jefferson City residents can have their large bulky unwanted items picked up for free in April. Residents who live east of Jefferson Street may leave items at their curbs by 5 a.m. on Monday, April 18. Residents who live west of Jefferson Street may leave items at their curbs by 5 a.m. on Monday, April 25.
Items that will be picked up include furniture, televisions, and microwaves, tied bundles of scrap material under four feet and household garbage and recyclables in Allied Waste blue carts.
Items that will not be picked up include appliances; tires; plastic bags or boxes of debris, trash or garbage; yard waste; lumber or guttering over four feet; rocks, bricks or concrete; waste oil; automobile parts; and acid batteries.
Cole County residents, along with Jefferson City residents will be able to participate in two other collection events this month. An E-Waste Collection will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 23 and Saturday, April 30 at the City Hall parking lot at 320 E. McCarty St. There will be a $5 fee for each television, computer monitor, floor copier and microwave. There will be no fee for all other electronics, and no reservation is required.
A Pharmaceutical Take-Back will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at the City Hall parking lot at 320 E. McCarty St. No fee or reservation is required.
