A 26 year-old Jefferson City man is convicted in a robbery last October.
Demetrius Leron Boyce was found guilty of armed criminal action, assault and robbery. In a news release, Cole County Prosecutor Mark Richardson says the jury deliberated 90 minutes. Richardson says evidence and the testimony from the victim sealed the case.
Boyce was accused of knocking on the victim's door in the 500 block of Lafayette Street last October and claiming he had been in a car crash. Boyce asked for a ride back to his car, but instead pulled a gun and told the victim to go to an ATM and get money. The victim drove back to Lafayette Street and jumped out of the car. Boyce fired a shot at the fleeing man grazing him in the leg.
Boyce will be sentenced later, he could face up to life in prison.
