A Cole County Deputy arrested a Jefferson City man Tuesday night on weapons and drug charges.
The Deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a church in the 7800 block of Heritage Highway, according to a press release.
As the Deputy approached the vehicle the driver, Joseph Ruppel, sped off. He was later stopped in the 8000 block of Route D.
During a search for weapons, Ruppel tried resisting by pulling away, and was trying to reach for the waistband of his pants, according to authorities. A loaded 9mm handgun was located in his waistband. Ruppel does not have a valid Concealed Weapons Permit.
The deputy also found a large amount of meth and drug paraphernalia in Ruppel's pockets, and brass knuckles in the car.
Ruppel has been charged with the Distribution/Delivery/Manufacture of Methamphetamine and unlawful use of a weapon.
