Mon, 20 May 2013 23:30:13 GMT — Interested in attending the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy at West Point or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy? Sen. Claire McCaskillâ??s office is now nominating candidates for the Class of 2018.You must be a resident of Missouri and a U.S. citizen, at least 17 years old (but not past 23 years of age) by July 1 of the year of admission. You must also be unmarried with no children or dependents, and have an extreme level of leadership, academic, and physical skills.Last year, the senator nominated 21 Missourians who accepted appointments to the four military academies."Missourians have a proud tradition of military serviceâ??patriotism and sense of duty are values that run deep in our state," said McCaskill, a senior member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. "Thatâ??s why itâ??s an honor to be able to help Missouri students as they compete for spots at these prestigious academies and dedicate themselves to protecting our nation." Click here to apply.
