      Icy roads lead to fatal Cole County crash

      A Jefferson City man was killed in a car crash caused by icy roads Saturday morning.

      A Jefferson City man is dead after losing control of his car on an ice-covered road early Saturday morning.

      According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 58-year-old Billy Robinett was driving eastbound on Highway 54 at Hammann Road in Cole County around 6:30 a .m. when he lost control on the ice, traveled off the right side of the road and down a steep embankment then overturned.

      Robinett was pronounced dead at Capital Region Medical Center about 45 minutes later.
