Human remains found in Eldon

Update Jan. 14:

Miller County authorities say Brandi Mathews' boyfriend at the time of her disappearance is now a person of interest in her death investigation.

Her ex-boyfriend, Kelly Simino, 41, is currently in the Miller County Jail, held without bond. He's been there since Thursday Jan. 8, when he was picked up on an outstanding probation and parole warrant. Ironically, the arrest came on the same day Brandi's remains were identified

Simino has not been charged with anything connected to Brandi's death or her dissapearance.

Original Story:

Miller County officials have a mystery on their hands after a woman walking her dog stumbled upon a human skull.

Police are keeping the exact location a secret but will say that the woman was walking just outside of Eldon near a creek.

The Miller County Sheriff's Department spent seven hours Saturday searching the area and uncovered four more bones. The skull and bones arrived in Columbia Monday morning to be examined by a forensic anthropologist.

The medical examiner says they can't tell yet if the remains are from a man or woman.

The discovery has people in the lake area wondering if the remains could be those of Brandi Mathews. She disappeared over two years ago from the Osage Beach area.

Sheriff Bill Abbott says Mathews is the only person missing from Miller County. He has long suspected foul play in her disappearance.
