Homemade explosive injures Cooper County man

One man was airlifted to the hospital after the explosion.

One man has been seriously injured in Cooper County after a homemade explosive device blew up on him.

The Cooper County Sheriff's office was called to a home on Speed Drive south of Boonville around 7:30 Saturday night.

Officers say the man is believed to have been manufacturing at least one explosive device.

The sheriff's office is investigating to determine what type of chemicals were involved.

The man was airlifted to University Hospital.
