The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be out in full force this holiday weekend on the state's roads and waterways trying to ensure safety and look out for impaired drivers and boaters.
On mid-Missouri roadways, officers from Troop F are participating in a program called "20 mile trooper," in which a trooper will be assigned every 20 miles along I-70, highway 54 and highway 63.
On the Lake of the Ozarks, troopers will exert maximum manpower on the water in operation "Peak Boater."
They'll be looking out for all traffic and waterways violations, especially regarding speed, careless and imprudent driving, agressive driving, and impaired driving.
The patrol reminds drivers to protect themselves and their passengers with the appropriate safety restraint, and boaters to make sure everyone in the boat is wearing an approved life jacket.
