      Highway Patrol helicopter crashes

      One Highway Patrol officer is unhurt and another slightly injured after a helicopter crash early this afternoon.

      Michael Hargus and Jeff Noack were on a training flight when their helicopter experienced an engine failure. Hargus landed the stricken helicopter in an open field a mile southeast of Jefferson City Memorial Airport. Hargus was uninjured in the incident. Noack receieved minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

      The Highway Patrol reports the helicopter, a 1969 Bell OH-58A, sustained "extensive" damage.
