Heroin sweep nets 5 high-level dealers, 12 others

A three week joint investigation resulted in the arrest of 17 people, five of them considered "high-level" heroin dealers.

Jefferson City Police, MUSTANG Drug Task Force and the Cole County Sheriff's department searched eight residences. They found heroin, crack cocaine, marijuana, a hundgun, and items associated with the packaging and distribution of controlled substances.

The majority of the 17 arrests were directly related to heroin distribution.

The five high-level dealers, four of them Jefferson City residents, have been formally charged with distribution of controlled substances.

They are:

Chad White AKA "Slim," 36, Jefferson City

Mark Parker AKA "Markie," 41, Jefferson City

Elonzo Johnson AKA "Big Bear," 42, Jefferson City

Augustus Armstead AKA "Cash," 24, Jefferson City

Lamar Johnson AKA "Burner," 31, St. Louis

These arrests are the latest for the JCPD's anti-heroin initiative. So far this year, more than 80 people have been arrested on heroin-related charges.
