Harvey mom receives life in prison

      Update: Monday, September 19th at 6:30 p.m.:

A Boone County judge sentenced Angela Harvey to life in prison for her role in the 2009 murder of an Ohio drifter in Audrain County.

Harvey pleaded guilty to second degree murder in the suffocation death of James McNeely, 20.

It took more than a year, but now Angela Harvey and her husband, Chester C.J. Harvey, and their sons Chad, Ethan and Jordan Harvey have all entered guilty pleas in the murder of James McNeely.

Authorities found James McNeely TMs frozen corpse in a refrigerated tractor-trailer near Vandalia in December of 2009. Angela Harvey cut a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder to avoid a charge of first-degree murder and a possible death sentence.

Audrain County Prosecutor Jacob Shellabarger said, I think it TMs in the interest of justice that the plea agreement was followed. It allows some closure for the family. It also allows justice to move forward. Mrs. Harvey has been in custody since this case started and now she will move on to the department of corrections.

Prosecutors say C.J. Harvey suffocated McNeely with a trash bag while others wrapped wire around the victim TMs throat.

Prosecutors said Angela Harvey kicked and aimed a gun at James McNeely just before he was murdered. Authorities said McNeely begged for his life, but the Harvey family didn TMt listen.
