The mood was somber throughout the Southern Boone County School District today after a teenage suicide shocked their community.
That??s according to School Superintendent Chris Felmlee.
Felmlee cancelled classes yesterday throughout the entire district after a 17-year-old shot and killed himself after threatening his high school with a text message.
Dozens of students took advantage of grief counselors at the high school??s library for one-on-one sessions.
School officials also met students in the school auditorium for group counseling.
Some students wore yellow T-shirts in support of suicide prevention.
Felmlee said, ??You are talking about different stages of development... The gambit kind of varied from relationship issues to broader issues to suicide in general.??
School administrators saw an average attendance today after yesterday??s tragic event.
School officials said the entire Southern Boone County community is grieving over the boy's loss.
