Four teachers' futures at middle school decided

Residents voiced concerns at the Maries R-II school board meeting.

Two of the four Maries County R-II school teachers recommended for job termination have resigned, citing compatibility issues with middle school principal Samantha White.

A third teacher, Greg Edwards, was rehired after a suggestion by superintendent Gary Doerhoff, while the fourth, Cole Graybill, was terminated from his position for teaching-performance issues.

White recommended the terminations last month. At a school board meeting Thursday, parents voiced their concerns and questioned the proposed dismissals.

KRCG 13 viewers have also expressed concern over the fact that White is the daughter of school board president, R.K. Slinkman. Doerhoff, however, said this is not a conflict of interest, because Slinkman does not vote on issues that would deal with the hiring/firing of White.
