Five people are in custody for the brutal beating and robbery of an 82-year-old Pulaski County man Friday in his home.
The last of the suspects was arrested shortly before 11:00 Tuesday, and the investigation has led to the arrest of five more individuals for whom criminal charges are being sought in other cases.
On Friday, the victim's vehicle was found abandoned on a farm near the Gasconade River, according to Pulaski County Sheriff Ron Long. Upon investigation, deputies learned that the owner of the vehicle was a disabled man and went to his house on Highway T near Swedeborg to check on his well-being.
Upon arrival, they discovered the man lying bound on the floor, severly injured. He was flown to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Long says that in addition to the arrests, some stolen property from the robbery has been recovered, as well as multiple firearms connected to other offenses committed in Pulaski and Miller Counties.
Long is planning a press conference at a later time to further discuss the details of the case.
