Firefighters respond to fatal crash, three fires overnight in Sedalia

The Sedalia Fire Department were dispatched Friday night through Saturday morning to a fatal single vehicle crash and three structure fires.

According to SFD, the first fire started early Friday evening on the 1209 S. Grand Avenue. Firefighters said it was caused by a vehicle fire in the driveway and sustained moderate damage to the outside of the house.

Firefighters then reportedly responded Saturday morning to a fatal crash in the intersection of 15th Street and Grand Avenue around 2:30 a.m.

Another fire involving a house fire was also responded to by crews. The fire happened at 600 of West 4th Street around 4:30 a.m. Upon firefighters arrival, they found a three-story house with fire smoke and flames. The neighboring house, six feet away, started to burn as well.

The fire caused severe damage to the house on fire and moderate damage to the neighboring house.

The Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office was called to assist SFD investigators to attempt to determine the cause.
