A fire on the Westminster College campus in Fulton Wednesday evening left a building with severe fire and water damage.

The brick building, which at one time was a private residence before housing the Westminster IT department, is in the 300 block of Seventh Street, near Westminster Avenue. Firefighters received a call at 7:25 p.m. from an employee who smelled smoke and phoned in the alarm, according to a campus spokesperson on the scene.

Fire damage was limited mostly to the upper level of the building. The whole building sustained smoke and water damage, and the spokesperson said if the building can be saved, it will need extensive renovation.

No one was injured in the fire. There is no estimate of monetary damage or a cause at this time.
