Fire in Kingdom City kills one

A fire in Kingdom City Thursday night killed one person.

Callaway County Emergency crews responded a little after 11:30 Thursday night to the building at 5751 Old Highway 40 in Kingdom City.

Sergeant Clay Chism with the Callaway County Sheriffâ??s Department said the building was home to Rogerâ??s Towing which is no longer is business. The business also had a residential area in the building where the owners lived.

Sergeant Chism said two adults and a juvenile lived in the building. The juvenile was not at home at the time of the fire. The adult female was out of the building when crews arrived. The adult male died in the fire. Officials said the man was 48-years-old. They have not released his name.

Three fire departments responded to the blaze. It took them two hours to get the fire under control. Crews remained on scene until 5:00 a.m.

Crews said the damage to the building was extensive. The investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.

Family members are asking for donations. The items needed are:

XL shirts, XXL pants, XL men's shorts, 40x30 men's jeans, size 8.5 women's shoes, size 13 men's shoes and size 18 women's pants.
