Sun, 19 Jun 2011 01:08:11 GMT — Friday, Gov. Jay Nixon was at Fort Leonard Wood airfield to welcome home a fallen soldier. Brig. Gen. Bryan Watson,commandant, U.S. Army Engineer School was also on hand. Pvt. 1st Class Matthew Joseph England, age 22, of Gainesville, Mo., was a soldier in the U.S. Army serving in support of Operation New Dawn in Iraq.He died on June 8 of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device in An Najaf Province, Iraq. Nixon has ordered that the U.S. and Missouri flags at state buildings in all 114 counties and the City of St. Louis be flown at half-staff on June 20 to honor the bravery and sacrifice of Private First Class Matthew Joseph England.
