The Jefferson City Knights of Columbus will be all pink on Saturday, July 20, to raise money for Erin Gieck.
Gieck was diagnosed with breast cancer in April and is due to give birth in August.
Despite the struggles of cancer treatment and pregnancy, Gieck manages to keep a positive attitude.
"If you let it get to you then you start to let it affect you. And so...I take one day at a time and concentrate on everything I have to do on that particular day...or a certain date. You know, if I know my next doctor's appointment is in two weeks, I just have to make it to two weeks and then I concentrate on my next date," Gieck said.
Gieck's friend and coworker, Tina Cole, said the community support has been great.
"It's amazing. So many bad things are happening in this world, let alone the community here and surrounding areas, and to see people be so generous and to come out in support of my friend, it's amazing and I thank everybody for it," Cole said.
The Pink Prom will go from 7-11 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus (1822 Tanner Bridge Road).
Advance tickets are $20 for a bottomless beer cup and 25 raffle tickets. They can be bought at the Xchange Boutique in Jefferson City (111 E. High Street), or you can call Tina for more information at 573-230-9018.
Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $20, but the price won't include raffle tickets.
All proceeds go toward the expenses of Gieck's treatment.
