      Employees take shoplifter to the ground

      A Jefferson City man was arrested after police say a man tried to shoplift and then assault store employees.
      A Jefferson City man was arrested after police say a man tried to shoplift and then assaulted store employees. Brian Carpenter, 31, was arrested around 4 p.m. Wednesday, after police responded to the Kohls at 715 Stoneridge Parkway for a shoplifter.The caller said a man had put t-shirts in his shorts. Employees confronted Carptenter and asked him to return the shirts. The suspect refused and started pushing the employees. The employees were able take the suspect to the ground and hold him until police got there. Police arrested Carpenter for robbery, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of paraphernalia.He also had three outstanding warrants.
