Eight arrested at sobriety checkpoint

A sobriety checkpoint set up by the Boone County Sheriff's Department netted eight offenders on Mexico Gravel Road in the early morning hours Sunday.
According to Sergeant Brian Leer, about 120 vehicles were stopped and checked during the operation, which was set up in the 4300 block of Mexico Gravel.
From 12:02 to 2:45 a.m., officers arrested one person for felony DWI, four for misdemeanor DWI, and three for driving with a suspended or revoked license.
The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation.
