Drug-sniffing dogs could soon be a part of a suburban St. Louis high school.
KMOX Radio reports the Kirkwood School Board is considering subjecting students to searches by the dogs. Board members are seeking input from parents and students before voting on the plan.
High School principal Mike Havener says individual rights need to be weighed against safety. He says in a school setting, safety weighs more heavily.
Havener says that so far, feedback from parents in the St. Louis County district indicates they favor the drug-sniffing dogs.
