Gas prices have dropped across the country, inlcuding here in mid-Missouri.
Thursday, one gallon of regular gas cost $3.09 in Jefferson City, while the same cost just $2.99 in Columbia.
According to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the national average price per gallon fell around 20 cents from last month.
"That's a lot when you think about it over a long period, but then again it doesn't mean that it's going to stay there," Jefferson City resident Arthur Moon said.
AAA said lower gas prices are fairly normal for October. Low gas prices are also an expected effect of a prolonged government shutdown because of a slower economy and lower demand for gas.
AAA also said drivers can expect to see the lowest gas prices of 2013 by the end of the month.
