A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper escaped serious injuries after she was dragged by a car during a traffic stop in St. Charles.
The patrol says the 26-year-old trooper was treated for scrapes and road rash after the incident Thursday morning along Interstate 70. The trooper had pulled over the driver on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Patrol Sgt. Al Nothum says when the trooper reached the car, the driver sped off, dragging her for several yards.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the trooper was able to call for help and describe the car. St. Peters police later stopped the car and arrested a 42-year-old man from Foristell. He faces charges of DWI and assault of a law enforcement officer.
