Do you think your job is dangerous?

A new report from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics says commercial fishing is the most dangerous job in America.

The government said a little more than 4,500 people died while working in 2010.

107 of those fatalities occurred in Missouri.

So KRCG's Facebook Crew talked with a worker in one of the top five most dangerous jobs in America to find out why his job is so dangerous.

It might surprise you to learn that farming is the fourth most dangerous job in America.

      But why is that?

Hartsburg farmer Terry Hilgedick said it's because of the dangerous equipment that farmers are around from sun up to sun down.

"There's just a lot of equipment involved with crop farming. We deal with rotating shafts on big equipment, and we even climb around on the equipment to repair it, Hartsburg Farmer Terry Hilgedick said. There's just a lot of things that has to be done in a course of the day on a farm. It all has a certain degree of danger a long with it."

Hilgedick is not surprised that farming is among the top five most dangerous jobs.

He said the harvest season puts a lot of pressure on farmers to work fast, and that leads to accidents.
