Disturbance ends with shots fired, charges filed

Steven Young was arrested early Saturday morning after allegedly firing shots during a disturbance.

A Columbia man is in Boone County Jail today after allegedly firing shots during an argument early Saturday morning.

Authorities say that Steven Young, 25, fired a shot in the air after an argument with some juveniles on the 4400 block of Santa Barbara Drive just after midnight.

As the disturbance grew, Young allegedly fired several more shots toward an adult.

The Boone County Sheriff's Department recovered the firearm Young allegedly used in the shooting and found it to be stolen.

Young is unable to legally possess a firearm because of previous felony convictions.

Young was charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, receiving stolen property, endangering the welfare of a child and possession of a firearm unlawful for certain persons.

Young's bond is set at $80,000.
